BuCor, DLSZ sign MOA for reformation, rehabilitation of inmates

The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) and the De La Salle Santiago Zobel School (DLSZ) have recently established a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with the primary objective of reforming and rehabilitating individuals who are deprived of liberty (PDLs). As per a statement released by BuCor, this collaborative effort will see PDLs receiving social and civic services provided by the faculty, staff, and students of DLSZ. The initiative is anticipated to significantly improve the well-being and character of PDLs through various activities such as social interactions, seminars, workshops, and training sessions.

The signing of the MOA took place at the New Bilibid Prison Compound, with BuCor Director General Gregorio Catapang Jr. and DLSZ Senior Vice President Rafael Javier Reloza as the signatories. Catapang expressed a positive outlook on the program's potential, emphasizing that it will impart valuable life lessons to PDLs, including the understanding that crime does not pay and the importance of spiritual values for those facing the challenges of life within correctional facilities.

Reloza, representing DLSZ, reaffirmed the institution's dedication to uplifting the lives of youth, families, and those in need, which includes PDLs. This partnership represents a collaborative effort aimed at addressing the rehabilitative needs of PDLs and contributing to their overall well-being and personal growth.
